Special Education, Therapeutic Support, Advocacy & Consultation
Krysten Clark Wilkes, BCBA, LBA
Welcome to Learning and Behavior! I’m Krysten, the founder of LearnBx. I’m also a mom of three and a licensed and board certified behavior analyst with a master’s degree in special education.
I’ve worked with children of all ages who have autism and other developmental disabilities. My background includes working in school settings, therapy clinics, and family homes, assessing challenging behaviors and helping parents use the latest research to support their children.
IEP Advocacy
I support families in navigating the IEP process by providing expert guidance and advocacy. My services include reviewing testing and documents, attending IEP and team meetings, observing your child at school, and offering therapeutic and behavioral consultation. I can recommend placements, refer outside resources, assist with mediation, and provide relocation analysis if needed.
Behavioral Assessment
I conduct safe and ethical functional assessments to better understand challenging behavior and why it occurs. As a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), I develop personalized treatment plans for children and adolescents who engage in behaviors often associated with autism or intellectual disabilities. I also work with schools, community organizations, and clinical facilities.
Parent Coaching
I provide coaching to parents and caregivers on how to implement effective teaching and behavioral strategies. My home-based program is designed to prevent the development of severe behaviors in young children recently diagnosed with autism. I also offer training for parents of older children and adolescents who engage in mild to moderate behaviors regardless of diagnosis.
Out-of-District/Private Placement Consultation
I provide guidance and support for families considering out-of-district or private school placements. My services include reviewing past evaluations and school records, offering placement recommendations, and assisting with the application process. Throughout the process, I offer ongoing communication with both parents and schools to ensure a smooth transition and successful placement.
Classroom Support
Through one-on-one coaching sessions, I work closely with parents to create individualized plans, teach effective techniques, and provide ongoing support to help their child thrive. I offer practical strategies for improving social skills, supporting language and communication development, reducing behaviors like tantrums, running away, or refusal, and managing other challenging behaviors that impact daily life.
Professional Development
I provide training for schools, organizations, and community groups, focusing on supporting individuals with diverse needs. My training covers topics like managing problem behaviors, ABA strategies for special education, conducting FBAs, writing effective BIPs, addressing school refusal, promoting social skills, and supporting adults with disabilities.
