Preschool Life Skills Program
Ages 2-5
This research-based curriculum developed by Dr. Greg Hanley teaches essential social and functional skills to preschoolers. It focuses on areas like following instructions, communication, waiting patiently, and friendship skills, all aimed at reducing problem behaviors and promoting social competence in young children.
In-Home Behavioral Services
Ages 5-21
We use a variety of evidence-based approaches tailored to each child’s unique needs, including structured teaching, naturalistic learning, communication training, and skill-building strategies to promote independence, social success, and positive behavior.
- Discrete Trial Training (DTT): Structured, one-on-one teaching sessions with clear instructions, prompts, and reinforcement.
- Natural Environment Teaching (NET): Learning skills through natural, everyday activities and environments.
- Verbal Behavior (VB) Therapy: Emphasizes teaching communication based on function (mands, tacts, intraverbals).
- Functional Communication Training (FCT): Teaching appropriate communication to replace challenging behaviors.
- Behavior Skills Training (BST): Teaching new skills through instructions, modeling, rehearsal, and feedback.
- Skill-Based Treatment: Focused teaching of practical, functional skills such as communication, social interactions, and daily living skills to promote independence and reduce problem behaviors.
- Social Skills Training: Targeting interpersonal skills like sharing, turn-taking, and conversation.
For Parents and Caregivers
Balance Program
The Balance Program is an evidence-based, home-based intervention designed to empower parents with the tools and strategies needed to support their child’s emotional regulation, social skills, and behavior management. Delivered by trained professionals who coach and guide families, this program focuses on teaching practical techniques that parents can use throughout daily routines to help their child develop greater self-control, reduce challenging behaviors, and improve overall well-being. By involving parents as the primary implementers, the Balance Program promotes consistency and generalization of skills in the child’s natural environment. This approach strengthens family relationships and builds caregiver confidence while fostering meaningful progress in the child’s development.
Mindfulness
Incorporating mindfulness practices into ABA services offers parents and caregivers valuable tools to manage stress, stay present, and respond thoughtfully to their child’s needs. Mindfulness helps caregivers become more aware of their own emotions and reactions, promoting calm and patience during difficult moments. By learning to observe thoughts and feelings without judgment, parents can reduce anxiety and improve their ability to implement ABA strategies consistently and effectively. Within ABA, mindfulness is often combined with behavior support coaching, helping families develop balanced approaches that nurture both the child’s growth and the caregiver’s well-being. This supportive focus not only benefits the child’s progress but also strengthens family resilience and harmony.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) offers parents and caregivers a powerful framework to cope with these experiences by fostering psychological flexibility. ACT encourages caregivers to accept difficult thoughts and feelings such as frustration, guilt, or worry, without letting them interfere with meaningful action. Through mindfulness and values-based strategies, parents learn to stay present and committed to what matters most: supporting their child’s growth and well-being. Incorporating ACT into ABA services helps families develop resilience, reduce stress, and engage more effectively with behavior plans and interventions. This holistic approach nurtures both the child’s development and the caregiver’s emotional health, creating a stronger foundation for long-term success.
